METHLEY PLUM TREES

This particular fruit is part of a group known as Japanese plums, hybrids of Prunus salicina. They require less winter chill than most other deciduous fruit trees and excel in the warmer climates like Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas. Furthermore Methley is self fertile and a single tree will produce a heavy crop of fruit. Trees are covered in white blossom in early spring. The small to medium sized fruit ripen in mid-December. Fruit are red skinned with paler flesh, sweet, juicy and really delicious.

Limited stocks of KZN’s favourite plum tree are ready for planting right now.
