BOTANICAL NAME: Trachelospermum jasminoides ‘Chameleon’
COMMON NAME: (many coloured star jasmine)
Unique evergreen with bright green, white and pink leaves. Easy to grow. Long lasting.
DESCRIPTION:
A slow-growing evergreen climber or groundcover. Lush, glossy dark green leaves contrast strikingly with colourful new growth that emerges in spring and summer. Young leaves emerge in shades of pink, white and cream, gradually turning green as they mature; hence the name ‘chameleon’ – the plant is always changing colour. The flowers are small and insignificant, appearing in early summer.
GARDEN USES:
These plants are excellent groundcover for shady areas. They’re also ideal for window boxes and tall pots. They look incredible when cascading over walls or down steep banks. The slender stems can be trained as a climber on trellises or fences.
CULTURAL INFORMATION:
Trachelospermum jasminoides ‘Chameleon’ grows in sun or shade. It enjoys a rich, loamy soil with plenty of compost and moderate water requirements. It grows in most climatic conditions, including cold, frosty areas. Easy to grow. Long lasting.
