BAY LEAF – FLAVOUR MASTER

Laurus nobilis, commonly called sweet bay or bay leaf, is an evergreen large shrub or small tree that grows well in many gardens.  The fresh or dried leaves are important ingredients of bouquet garni, used in many sauces, soups, stews and casseroles as a flavouring agent.  It’s always convenient to pop out into the garden and harvest fresh bay leaves to enhance your culinary skills.

Bay leaf plants grow in sun or light shade, can be pruned or trained into shaped topiaries or standards and cope with cold winter conditions.  Plant them in herb gardens, formal landscapes or in large pots as attractive specimens with lush, dark green leaves.
